The movie

In Houston (Texas/USA), on the night of August 16, 1979, police cars are on patrol. Almost in front of the camera of François Reichenbach, who has come to Houston to investigate, a tragedy breaks out: a sheriff has just been killed in the middle of the street. The murderer managed to escape. The police track him down in a neighboring state, where he has taken refuge with his grandmother. His name is Charles Bass, known as Charley. He fled Texas to escape the jurisdiction of this state, which has the death penalty. His extradition requested and obtained, Charles Bass will be brought back to Houston and sent to the death row department of the state prison. François Reichenbach set out to document this event, gathering eyewitness accounts and filming the twists and turns of the drama, with the agreement of the American authorities and the murderer.
