The movie
Julien is a young author who dreams of being published. Through subterfuge, he manages to get an appointment with a formidable editor, Judith Zahn. She doesn’t recognize his talent, but finds him to her liking. He allows himself to be seduced and becomes her lover. One evening, out of curiosity, he rummages through her belongings and discovers a story that fascinates him, the story of Judith’s father, a philosopher from the 70s who died fighting alongside the guerrillas in South America. Julien decides to write a book about it without telling Judith. When Julien shows her the manuscript, she feels robbed and betrayed, forbids him to publish it and breaks up with him. He overrules her and gets the book published. Judith, humiliated, uses a stratagem to bring Julien down. She succeeds, but does not enjoy her revenge as much as she had hoped.
